A Dogs Life Photography is announcing a casting call for a few animals (not just dogs!) that meet certain requirements for a photo shoot in Phoenix on October 16th. Photos will be used in the veterinarian industry for commercial purposes. Compensation is a free photo session and digital files.

A Dog’s Life Photography is building up their stock photography library and needs a few models to help us out.

Your pet could be famous!

Stock photography is a supply of photographs that are licensed for specific uses such as product labels, advertisements, greeting cards, calendars, etc. We are specifically targeting the veterinarian industry with this photo shoot. So, the photos would most likely show up on ads for veterinarian offices or appointment reminder cards or even get well cards.

We are looking for a few animals that meet the following criteria:

A small dog of a common breed that is:

Very friendly and not afraid of strangers

Obeys basic sit, lay and stay commands for an extended period of time

Will tolerate being put into costumes

Adorable, of course

Will work for treats

A medium size dog of a common breed that meets all of the preceding requirements plus:

Will stay in an upright begging position for an extended period of time

Puppies of a common breed or kittens that are 6-8 weeks old and are super cute!

Bunnies, chicks or any other small, young & cute animals

Models and their parents/handlers must be available during the day on Saturday, October 16th, be willing to bring the animal to our studio in Phoenix at 40th St. and Indian School and must be willing to sign a legal waiver of all rights to the images.

You will be compensated with a free photo session ($175.00 value) and at least 5 professionally edited high resolution digital files (valued at $50.00 each).

To enter to qualify for this opportunity, please send a message to info@adogslifephoto.com. Include the animals type, breed and age along with a recent photo of the animal. Entries must be received by the end of the day on Sunday, September 26th

Sookie the brindle female Boxer came to visit A Dog’s Life Photography through our rescue group photo program. Rescue organizations, click here for details on how you can participate, too. The following info was provided by the Almost Home Boxer Rescue:

My name is Sookie and I am a female Boxer that is the foster care of the Almost Home Boxer Rescue.

I love so many things in life….wiggling like crazy, playing chase and doing boxer burns around the yard and playing with my squeaky plush toy! Man, I could play with my squeaky toy for hours!!!!

Most of all, I love cuddling and giving kisses!

Before I tell you more about what I love—a little about me—I was picked up by the Humane Society with a dislocated elbow. They called Almost Home Boxer Rescue and I was whisked away to the vet, where my arm was surgically fixed. I sported a fancy cast for a couple months, and when my cast came off, I had to go through rehab because I had this crazy limp. But I worked REALLY hard over the last few months, and now you can’t even tell I had surgery! To keep my elbow super healthy, I need two 15 minute walks daily, and a little glucosamine with my meals.

Ok, so back to what I LOVE. I LOVE my crate! During the day when my foster mom is at work, she let’s me hang out in there all day. Sure, I could hang out in the house because I am housetrained, but why give up an awesome crate and a luxurious dog bed?

In my forever home, I would love to have a family that would give me all the hugs and kisses I could ever want. Ok… my foster mom says I should tell you that I do best following “Nothing in Life is Free” training. It makes me a very well-behaved pup—but if you let me sneak up on the bed and snuggle every once in a while I PROMISE I won’t tell! A handsome male dog to play with and a cat or two would be ok too.

Let all your friends and family know that I am ready for a forever home!!!!

PS…..I’m about 4YO

The other day, I had a visit from a neighbor’s dogs that busted out of her backyard. It seems she has learned to jump the 6 foot block fence by taking a running leap to get her front paws on the top and then pulling herself up and over. This is no girly girl. This is about 150 lb. of determination (and drool)…

Sadie hung out in my back yard for the afternoon while waiting for her mom to get home. After she got over her fear of chlorine ducks, things went fine:

So, I took the opportunity to use her as a model and got a few good shots for my stock photography library. She was a great model!

I also took a few photos just for her mom to cherish.

Come back and visit anytime Miss. Sadie. You are are a very sweet girl.

A Dog’s Life Photography is building up our stock photography library! What is stock photography, you ask? Microstock companies provide huge libraries of photos that are for sale for personal or commercial purposes. The cost of the photo download varies anywhere from $1.00 for low resolution files that are for a one time use to up in the hundreds of dollars for high resolution files to be used for commercial purposes.

Dog owners and rescue groups are provided with incentives for allowing A Dog’s Life Photography to sell photos that we take of their dogs as stock photography. As a private client of A Dog’s Life, you are entitled to $50.00 off of the standard photo session fee if you sign a waiver which gives your permission for us to use the photos for resale purposes.

A Dog’s Life Photography doesn’t just photograph dogs! We are currently offering FREE PHOTO SESSIONS for exotic and rare pets. The catch is that you will need to sign a waiver and you will most likely need to bring the pet into the studio in Phoenix. Exceptions to shoot on-location will be made on a case by case basis.

Some of the Microstock companies that we work with are Shutterstock, Big Stock Photo, Fotolia, Dreamstime and PhotoStockPlus.

I have completely revamped the Dogs Life Photography website. It’s slick and clean! Now, I am sure that some of you may like the old site better because it was a little more “fun”. I needed to make this change because I am moving into the commercial stock photography business and needed a more professional look. Check it out at www.ADogsLifePhoto.com.

I’ve finished adding all breeds from the Tails of Rescue book to the I’ve Got It Ruff section of the gift store. The store itself is still under construction and will be taking on a total facelift real soon. It’s real ugly right now. So, pardon the dust while you complete your shopping.

I have launched a new stock photography website that allows companies and graphic designers to purchase high resolution digital files of photos of rescue dogs for commercial purposes, such as advertisements, product labels, website design, etc. This site also offers high quality photo and canvas prints of your favorite A Dogs Life Photography photos. Click Here if you are in need of some classy dog art to hang on your walls.

I have a new assistant/intern that is helping me out with some photo sessions and photo editing. She is a fellow dog lover, budding photographer and she is active in the rescue community. Hopefully she will let me snap a few photos of her to post here to introduce her to you all!

Last but certainly not least… I am starting a brand new photo program that is FREE to local Phoenix area dog rescue groups. Details will follow in an email to the rescue groups after I nail down all of the little details, but here’s the skinny:

Rescue groups are allowed one free in-studio photo session per month of one dog that is currently up for adoption.

The rescue group will receive high resolution digital photos to be used for adoption ads, website design, flyers or any other marketing purpose.

I will set up a dedicated photo product store on A Dog’s Life Photography’s Gift Shop for each participating rescue group and a portion of the proceeds of all sales of photo products sold will be donated directly to the respective rescue groups.

Photos from each session will be sold as stock photography and a portion of proceeds of sales will be donated to the rescue groups.

Rescue groups – I will get with you on the details in the next week or so. In the meantime, if you would like to get on the schedule for photos before the slots fill up, visit the calendar page on this site and send an email to susan@adogslifephoto.com with the days/times that you would like to book.
