Goldie was one of 8 Jack Russell Terriers & mixes that the Arizona Jack Russell Terrier Rescue took in from a woman living in the White Mountains area of AZ. She had 40 to 60 dogs on her property and was unable to properly care for them, as she had no running water, no electricity, and no fence to keep them in safe from coyotes, wolves, & other predators. Since there was no running water on the property, the dogs rarely had fresh water, and had to pretty much fend for themselves when it came to food. Goldie had never been away from this terribly cluttered, dirty environment.

AZJRR quickly learned that she was approx. 2 to 3 weeks pregnant when she arrived, so it was necessary to have the pregnancy terminated immediately. Within a couple of days, Goldie was wagging her tail, & coming to her foster mom for treats & attention. She quickly learned to walk on a leash and enjoyed playing with the other rescued Jacks in their care.

After 3 short weeks of being with them, Goldie attended an adoption event because her foster mom thought the exposure would be good for her. She didn’t expect her to be adopted, but a lady named Mary came to the event looking for a new companion. She had recently lost her beloved Jack Russell mix to cancer, and was looking for someone else to help fill the void in her heart. She was actually looking to adopt a puppy, but when she saw Goldie & learned of her story, she knew she had found her new best friend. Goldie is adjusting quite well in her new home. She loves walks, trips to the pet store, and being introduced to Mary’s friends.

AZJRR (Arizona Jack Russell Terrier Rescue) was incorporated in AZ in 2002, however, it had been unofficially helping to save JRTs for many years prior. Since 2002, we have placed well over 500 terriers into loving, forever homes.
